Function in restoration
We use techniques and materials compatible with the work itself. Our goal is to bring worn or damaged objects to a condition so close to their beginning that the original artist might approve, with respect.
Types of restoration & services include but not limited to
Cleaning: Removal of old varnish and accumulated dirt.
Rips: Small rips and punctures may be patched so that they cannot be detected. Larger rips and holes may require mounting of the canvas on a solid support.
Wrinkling: Canvas restretched, reinforced where necessary.
Flaking: Requires relining or mounting to re-adhere the paint to the canvas.
Repainting: Used only to render repaired areas undetectable. More extensive repainting is done only by request and consent of the client.
Prints: cleaned, glass and frame cleaned and restored. Mounting (if required).
Frames: Restored to original beauty. Missing parts replaced through the use of molds of existing parts. Gold leafing whenever it is needed.
Patching: small rips may be patched
Mounting: heavily damaged areas are seamed after remounting
Restretching: eliminates wrinkling
Relining: cures flaking
Repainting: to cover and blend
Molding: missing parts replaced
Releafing: finishes, matched and reapplied
Rebuilding: hand shaping and construction

Estimate and initial consultation are free and given in advance. Please call for an appointment.
The value of the painting is always considered; free discussion of the price is welcomed. Clients who buy and sell paintings will find the service invaluable. Also paintings of mostly sentimental value are not neglected.
Methods of payment include money order, cash and check.
